In over 4 years as manager of this wonderful team yesterday ranked as one of our best performances ever , certainly the best yet at 11 a  side .

I gave the girls plenty of very strict instructions before the game and they carried them all out perfectly .

Wollaton are one of the best teams in this league and we have had many a close game with them over the years so I opted to man mark their number 12 again and drop Erin out to the right wing to bolster the midfield  thus giving April a free reign to man mark and get forward whenever possible .

One of my instructions was to get that all important early goal so be winning 3-0 after just 8 minutes was just incredible !!

April stuck the first in the top corner on 2 minutes , Lily bagged her 7th of the season with a superb finish on 5 minutes and then Eloise slammed home  a great free kick for her first of the season to give us a fantastic cushion .

All the girls were working so hard , not only defensively but also offensively , the energy and passion to do well today shone out all afternoon .

So 3 up at half time and my team talk was quite simple really , keep a clean sheet , keep up the excellent work rate and grab some goals if the chances come your way .

Cue Rosie to find her range at this level with the first of her season and April banged in the 5th leaving us with a great lead and Wollaton were a spent force .

Anya then came on to give her a run up front and Leanne dropped into her defensive role .

Every one of the girls were magical and I need the same for the rest of the season please .

 

Player watch ;

 

Molly - off your line well again and some monster kicks . One good save from number 12 but you made it look easy bacause your positioning was spot on . Yet another clean sheet to add to your CV which against Wollaton is no mean feat ,well done

Lottie - Chopper Read was really revved up for this one and it showed with an excellent all round dynamic display  . Your throw in's caused Wollaton problems all morning and your energy levels have improved dramatically in the last few months , superb

Esther - Making her 50th League and Cup appearance today my rock was just that . You build a team around a solid spine and Esther has been our back bone for 4 years now , what a player

Kiara - This was Kiara's best game since re-joining Woodlands FC and she is forging a great partnership with Esther at the heart of our defence . Kiara didn't miss a thing this morning and kept her shape really well all game . Very well done Kiara

Eloise - We had to wait 4 games for a Squeezer special but today was that day ! Leading by example again Eloise was immense and her enthausiasm for this game of football holds no bounds , brilliant

Erin - asked to play in a new position today Erin worked incredibly hard and had to do more defending than she is normally asked to do , but she did it very well . When getting forward you linked up well with Lily too and it was an absolute pleasure to watch , excellent

Orla - game on game you are improving and today you did it again , winning everything in midfield and spreading it wide at every opportunity just like I instructed . Regular football is bringing the best out in you Orla , keep it going , star

April - despite being handed the man marking role again you still found time to get forward and bag a brace ! An incredible display and one you should be very proud of April .

Rosie - only your second game of the season but today you looked like your old self , great skill on the ball , superb vision and some crunching tackles . Your first goal of the season too which I am sure will be the first of many , tremendous

Rian - you worked incredibly hard for the team today , working the channels well as normal and also putting in some superb crosses . You have started the season in great form Rian and that has mirrored  your improvement in training , its no coincidence . Well done

Lily - You have fitted in so well with the girls Lily and I have now found your best position . Your hold up was good and the way you layed the ball off to Rian and Erin was top drawer .

Keep banging those goals in but above all keep playing the way you are , excellent

Leanne - a short burst at right back today and you did well  . A superb attitude as always , thank you to you and Anya for being patient with me today

Anya - I thought you did really well up front , using your pace to worry their defenders and  closing the ball down well . Well done

 

So a monumental display that will live long in the memory for all those that were there . The girls had a superb following as normal today and you did them all proud .

My special thanks to Gary today for stepping in as my lieutenant , I have never heard him so vocal , he was even louder than Mrs Lash !

Kiara , Orla & April get the nod today for their all round work rate and doing exactly what I told them to do , well done girls , there were 10 others right behind you !

 

Your manager is so proud and some kind words from the Wollaton manager at the end rounded off a superb weekends football action .
