West Bridgford  away 22.01.12

On a very windy day we ventured forth to West Bridgfords new 11 a side venue and it was very impressive . A good big flat pitch is just what our girls like , we just had the horendous wind to contend with which was blowing diagonally across the pitch .

West Bridgford won the toss and elected to kick with wind at their backs but we were played some decent stuff in spells and created several chances which were not taken . I thought our defence today was tremendous , as while West Bridgford never had a shot on goal this was due to our defenders getting some cracking tackles in to set us on our way up front .
So into half time 0-0 and I switched it around to give Kiara a run up front and Orla came on into her midfield role . Again several chances came and went but it was only  a matter of time before we took one and Erin did that in fine style with a lovely left footed finish across the keeper low into the corner . We kept knocking at the West Bridgford door and Erin added a second this time with her right , again low into the corner . I preach finishing low and hard into the corners every week and Erin's finishing today showed why .
All the girls battled hard  and there was  a great resolve when it was 0-0 to keep going and get the job done , well done all you . I personally really enjoyed the game , West Bridgford battled well ,stuck every player behind the ball to make it hard for you  , but you had the skill , endeavour and persistance to see it through , top job .

Player Watch ;

Molly - not much to do today because the girls in front of you magnificent , good kicking into the wind though
Lottie - cracking first half in which you got stuck in as normal . Your passing was good up the flanks too
Esther - number 22 was a lively one for WB today but you handled her well and mopped up all the danger , well done
Kiara - in two positions today and I thought you did very well in both . Your reading of the game at the back is superb and this led to you having a great first half
Eloise - a steady game for our leader today in which she struggled to get forward much due to a congested midfield , Any danger was dealt with very well
April - a busy midfield saw you scrap away and when there was a bit more space late on you played some lovely balls inside their full back
Anya - your first start in this position and you worked very hard and did well . Win it and knock it wide were my instructions to you and you looked to do this at every opportunity
Rosie - an industrious display in midfield today in which you worked really hard but there were alot of bodies in there .  You had a fair bit of defensive work to do today and you did it well which is all part of the position
Rian - you got into some great positions today but unfortunately the finishing was not there today . Take your time a bit more in front of goal , take another touch if you have the time , you don't have to break the net to score . Keep working hard Rian as this season you have been brilliant , so stick at it and take the coaches words of wisdom on board
Lily -  a game in which space up front was at a premium unfortunately . Just make sure you get in front of that defender to every ball , take a good first touch and it will all fall into place
Erin - I am really pleased for you today Erin as you were due a goal and today's 2 were top class finishes . You also worked very hard for the team . Very well done Crewy .
Orla - an excellent second half in which you won and spread the ball well
Leanne - a superb second half for you too Miss Groombridge . Despite not being fully fit you were excellent and played a very sensible game
Laura - your reading of the game is also good and we know all about your pace . We just need to get some power through those boots - leave it with us ! , well done

So a good result and another clean sheet which is always very pleasing . The girls had to dig deep at times today against a much improved West Bridgford side who should finish mid table . The resolve and determination to keep going was great to see and I am a very happy manager this evening Clap

My 3 players of the match today were - Erin , Esther & Kiara

Todays fixture at home to Bingham saw us reach the half way mark in the season . I shuffled the pack and gave Anya , Leanne and Eve richly deserved starts today and they all did very well Clap
Kicking towards the training pitches in the first half we had all the possession but didn't really create many clear cut opportunities  until Rian slammed in the first on 16 minutes . Another one for Rian before half time and we were in control but not quite firing on all cylinders .
4 changes at half time and we seemed to find third gear and we took over . A good finish by Eloise to mark her 50th league and cup appearance , a quick fire double from Lily and then Rian completed a fully deserved hat trick Clap. April banged in the 7th leaving just enough time for Lily also to complete her hat trick Clap
On a cold and wet morning the girls worked really hard and it was great for them all to get loads of match time in as we move forward as a squad .
Several of the girls played in new positions as well which will stand them in good stead in their footballing development Wink.
