We started brightly and were playing some good stuff but didn't take the lead until the 5th minute when Lily scored the first of her hat-trick  After this first goal we peppered the Riverside goal , hitting the post on numerous occassions and the keeper was having a good game for Riverside too .

We finally popped a second in when Erin decided to aim for the goal and not the post  and we had a nice cushion to play on .  Lottie then steamed through from midfield and riffled a good shot at the goals the keeper fumbled it and Lily scored her second , good work from both girls .

3-0 at half time when it should have 6 or 7 but the all round play impressed James and myself greatly . Eloise in her new midfield role was exceptional , all over the pitch , getting stuck in , intelligent passing and setting a superb example like all good skippers do

We were soon off and running in the second half and Rian popped the 4th in and then Eve scored her first league goal with her left foot ! Well done Eve , lets hope that's the first of many .

Lottie then crashed in the 6th , and Rian and Lily duly completed their respective hat-tricks

Some of the passing and movement was superb today girls and at least 3 of the goals were started from one of our defenders passing the ball out from the back and led to us scoring at the other end , super and excellent team play .

 

Player Profile ;

 

Molly - you marked your 50th appearance with another clean sheet and a quick trot up front at the end . Well done , safe hands as normal and off your line well

Anya - you are possibly the most improved player this season and today you stepped it up another level , keep up your excellent attitude and work rate

Esther - quick covering when required today and solid in the tackle . You and Laura looked good together at the back but there will be sterner tests to come

Laura - you are learning more and more with every minute on the pitch Laura and you are an excellent listener . You did well again today and your speed was evident when required , well done

Kiara - a  new position again for you today but you again did very well . You are an excellent defender because you read the game well and that is one of your biggest strengths , well done

Lottie - you too worked hard in the engine room and found time to get forward and score and assist in one of Lily's goals . Some sensible passing as well which was very pleasing to see

Orla - you really have settled into the holding role well and today you made some superb tackles and passes out to the flanks . You also had a couple of good efforts on goal which shows how high your confidence is right now . I am very pleased with you

Eloise - the first half was possibly the best you have ever played for us , a real captains performance . You were everywhere and you energy levels have improved visibly since the start of the season . Good work skipper

Erin - you too worked hard although under the weather and your attitude was spot on today Erin . You could have a least 4 but that day will come . Keep it going Crewy

Lily - up front for the first time today Lily and I thought were superb . You held it up well and you put a good shift in . 5 goals in our first 2 games is an excellent return , you know what I think you are capable of up there , do it ! Great stuff

Rian - you worked the channels very well today Rian , and were a constant thorn in the Riverside defence . An excellent hat-trick and you have started the league campaign very well , really pleased Rian - keep it going all season

Eve - Your first league goal with your left foot , brilliant ! As soon as you had scored your confidence visibly shot up and you were everywhere . Going through the middle suited you better and you also did well on the right .  Your Mum and Dad shouted louder than me when you scored !!  Excellent

Leanne - that's the best you have passed the ball for a while Miss Groombridge and you tracked back very well too . Keep knocking that ball up the flanks Leanne and also inside that full back . Good work

 

So needless to say I am very happy with the result but more so with some of the football we played today . All of the girls passed it well , created space and tackled well . 

The swimming was great fun afterwards too,  even if the slides were freezing

Today we were back at Riverside in our second league fixture and with a new formation and girls in new positions throughout the team .
