A warm sunny morning greeted us as we strode out onto West Park in Long Eaton . Only 12 players today due to injuries and other committments but these 12 were excellent .
After a good opening win last week the girls were full of confidence and warmed up really well which so often sets the tone for the game to follow .
Playing my favoured 3-5-2 formation again we won the toss and kicked off . A cagey first few minutes followed but once Lily had given us the lead from an April corner on 8 minutes the girls got going .
3 more goals before half time from Erin , April and Anya and we had a nice cushion for the second half .
One change at half time saw Eve come on at left wing back and Squeezer drop in to the back 3 . We kept our shape alot better in the second half and played some good stuff at times with Orla spreading the ball well from her new holding midfeld role .
4 more goals followed from Rian ( 2 ) , April and Erin before Riverside scored from a corner after we failed to clear our lines . We must not do this against better opposition so we will work on this in training next week .
Rian , Erin ( 2 ) and Leanne completed the scoreline which I felt was a little harsh on Riverside as they started well and never gave up .
A bit of fine tuning on defending of corners and off side will be the order of the day next week at training .
Molly had a couple of catches to make and was off her line well a couple of times , but always looked assured .
The defence again looked good with Kiara in particular in commanding form at the heart of our defence . We just need to get the wing backs role fine tuned a bit more , but hey thats me being picky !
