Notts County away 8.1.12

Our first league outing of 2012 took us up to Linby the home of Notts County Ladies . Eloise won the toss and we kicked off down the slope , starting very well . We were passing the ball well and there was some good movement on show .

This good start was rewarded with the opening goal from Rosie on 7 minutes who after good work from Eloise cut in from the left hand side and buried a great shot across the keeper . Rosie's second followed soon after after some superb work in midfield from April .
We were on a roll and some of the performances today were outstanding and when Eloise dropped in the third on 14 minutes we were comfortable . Lily smashed one against the post but we came in 3-0 up at half time , a superb half all round .
A couple of changes at half time saw Eve and Laura enter the action and a fairly tight second half ensued . Leanne and Anya also came on and did very well . Leanne playing in an unfamiliar role to her at centre half .
Notts County had a couple of chances one of which Molly held well and one which Leanne cleared off the line . Notts County have improved dramatically in the last few weeks and gave a good account of themselves today .
With 5 minutes left to play Rian broke free dwon the middle and rifled in the fourth to seal it .
All the girls got loads of match time today and it was also a chance to play girls in new positions to further their footballing knowledge .

Player watch ;

Molly - a quiet first half but alot busier in the second . A couple of good saves and one excellent grab on the floor when a goal looked certain
Lottie - one of your best games for some time . Solid as always in the tackle , great speed on the recovery and good going forward
Esther - solid as always at the back and you also did well up front late on
Kiara - you keep on getting better week on week at the back , some sensible distribution as well
Eloise - a cracking goal and another superb skippers display
April - energy in abundance as always and you worked very well with Orla today in keeping a tight grip in that midfield freeing Rosie up to get forward
Rosie - back to your best today Miss Hunt and it was great to see you banging the goals in again .  Take great confidence from that display Rosie you were exceptional
Orla - consistency is becoming your trade mark Orla as you again had another very good game in the middle of the park . You have took to 11 a side like a duck to water and its great to see
Rian - excellent finish for your goal but the ball didn't run kindly for you today but you soldiered on and finished well
Lily - one terrific shot against the post and some good hold up play saw you have an effective game
Erin - playing on the right and left today your pace worried the Notts County defenders but like Rian it didn't seem to fall kindly to you two today , you worked hard for the team which is vitally important
Leanne - you did well at centre half today which is new to you . I do like to see you all  in different positions at times as you develop different awareness's  of the game
Anya - in the centre of midfield and you again did well . A couple of times you and Orla had opportunities had chances on the edge of the box to shoot , don't be afraid mate , shoot !
Laura - didn't miss a beat again and I had some lovely comments about how you play the game . Your development has been phenomenal this season
Eve - second half on the right of the front 3 and you played the best I have seen for a while . You made some intelligent runs which caused the defenders headaches . Your first touch was much better too which is what I keep onto you about !

So a great start to the new year and it was good to get cracking again . Thanks to all those who made the long trip out there it was superb to see such a great following Clap

Thanks to James for his help today it was good to have you on board Wink

My 3 players of the match were - Rosie , Orla & Lottie , but you were all terrific Clap

The Gaffer

Todays fixture at home to Bingham saw us reach the half way mark in the season . I shuffled the pack and gave Anya , Leanne and Eve richly deserved starts today and they all did very well Clap
Kicking towards the training pitches in the first half we had all the possession but didn't really create many clear cut opportunities  until Rian slammed in the first on 16 minutes . Another one for Rian before half time and we were in control but not quite firing on all cylinders .
4 changes at half time and we seemed to find third gear and we took over . A good finish by Eloise to mark her 50th league and cup appearance , a quick fire double from Lily and then Rian completed a fully deserved hat trick Clap. April banged in the 7th leaving just enough time for Lily also to complete her hat trick Clap
On a cold and wet morning the girls worked really hard and it was great for them all to get loads of match time in as we move forward as a squad .
Several of the girls played in new positions as well which will stand them in good stead in their footballing development Wink.
