After a 2 year gap we returned to one of our old haunts today and 2 things were different .
1. The goals were the right size !
2. The grass had been cut !
So that was a good start ! Unfortunately our girls didn't start as well , the old habit of starting slow from earlier in the season returned .
Anyway once we got going we were OK and took the lead with a neat back post finish from April .
Rosie made it 2 with one of the best headers I have ever seen from a 10 year old , nodding in the top corner straight from April's corner , brilliant
Erin made it 3 from an excellent Lottie pass and we were on our way . A further 4 goals for Rosie and a clever finish from Rian completed a satisfactory mornings work
The passing at times was superb today and there were some crunching but fair tackles out there which particularly impressed me , we will need that kind of determination in our remaining league fixtures
Molly - quiet in goals but could have bagged a hat-trick up front ! Great to see you have a trot out field . You obviously enjoyed it judging by the smile on your face ! You are still my number 1 though , whatever Erin may tell you next week !!!!
Lottie - solid in defence and passing the ball better since Bryan took you under his wing . Another quality assist as well which pleased me even though you think I am mad
Esther - I am beginning to run out of compliments for you Miss Lamb . Your Mum and Dad know how highly I rate you , speak to them !!
Orla - On your 25th appearance you again turned in a brilliant performance . Solid in the tackle and superb distribution which has been a massive feature of your game this season . Playing on the left is difficult sometimes when you are right footed but your left foot is improving dramatically , carry on and you will be classed as a 2 footed player and that is some feat . So pleased for you today
April - your work rate was as high as ever and your energy astounds me . Superb corners and excellent vision as always
Rosie - 5 goals including an incredible header . You as always were selfless in your play , trying to tee Molly up for a goal in the later stages several times . You have a superb attitude and the girls love you
Erin - once you got going you did brilliant , 2 earlier efforts went begging but you kept going and popped one in , I love the way your never let your head drop after missing a chance , its a superb attitude and to be admired . A big thank you as well for going in goals to enable Molly to have a run out , I know she appreciated it and it is a luxury to have 3 excellent back up keepers !!
Rian - brilliant to see you back on the score sheet but more importantly laying the ball off and passing the ball better . A strikers job is a combination of tasks , scoring goals is just part of that job and you did them all very well today . I hope my words of encouragement helped as I have the upmost faith in you , well done
Leanne - top job today mate , you also are improving , not only in matches but at training as well . This comes with playing with good players as well and you have a raised your game to another level recently . I am very pleased for you , keep it going you are heading in the right direction
Eloise - a steady second half in which you improved the longer it went on . Superb attitude as always and its time for another Squeezer special !!!
So all in all I am very pleased but as ever I learn things from every game . We must be sharper from the first whistle , we still need to talk more and we cannot stand off the opposition too much as better teams will take advantage of this .
On the plus side I couldn't wish for a better set of girls who are a fantastic squad and who all want to learn and improve , so that will do me !!!!
A special mention to Castle Donington too who I thought did well early doors and played with a smile on their faces all morning . I have alot of time for Sharon who is doing a sterling job with her girls and they are a credit to her and their parents
Thanks everyone today , great following as always
