Clifton at Home 2.10.11

Defence : In which ever formation we go with you all looked solid and capable of dealing with long balls and high balls which in the past has been our downfall. Clifton have a few tricky players and a never say die attitude so defensively we had to be on our guard throughout the match. With a switch in formation it allowed a few normally defensive players to have a run out up front with Lucy P notching from a corner.

Midfield : An area where we are always looking to improve, today we showed some nice touches and the ability to thread passes through the back line, unfortunately though on several occasions we were offside but we will work on those areas in the coming weeks. We need to read the game a little bit better in the midfield when a keeper has a big kick we should be able to adapt quickly to help the defence deal with the long kicks but again, in the main we competed well and got the ball to the wide players quickly which I was pleased with.

Attack : We pressured the defenders into making mistakes which is a vital part of the game, we do however need to work on the off sides which caused us a few problems during the game. This is a key area that we will work on this week and coming weeks but overall we created chances from each flank which we have not really had the chance to do much this season. As a team though we do need to be a bit more greedy in front of goal, it’s a credit to you all that we try and work the openings but sometimes we should just have a go at goal and that is not just the strikers its whoever has the chances.

Its always a tough one playing the Clifton girls as we have always got on really well with them but as a team we showed them the respect they deserve and although the score was high, overall they have become a stronger team I feel. It gave us the opportunity later on in the game to move a few players round and see what they can give to the team in a variety of positions.

Well done today, proud of you all as always
