After changing the venue to Woodlands unfortunately the weather again froze our pitch so the game was again moved to Long Eaton School to allow the fixture to be played.

Thankfully we were still able to put out a decent side and one that we knew would have to work very hard against West Bridgford who always provide tough opposition.

The game got underway with both sets of players working hard in the midfield area but without really creating many clear cut chances. After a West Bridgford corner the girls failed to clear the ball in and after a goal mouth scramble the ball was prodded home to make it 1-0 to WB. With Woodlands failing to get into their stride, the ball was eventually swept out to Katie on the right wing who swung over the cross which was headed clear by WB but only to Emily who strode onto the lose ball and there was only one outcome despite the efforts of the Bridgford keeper to make it 1-1 at the interval.

At half time we put Katie M out wide, Emily stayed at centre half after Lucy’s injury and Georgia down the centre. Straight away the girls got the ball down on the floor and played some proper football. When the ball was played out to the left wing, Katie M fired the ball across the six yard box where it was met by Hannah who got enough connection on the ball to put the girls 2-1 up and bag her second goal in as many games.

Woodlands again rode their luck at times at the back but with Annie in top form in goal the advantage was maintained. The midfield were still working hard and another great ball over the top saw Georgia sprint clear, keep her cool and poke ( Toe Poke,  told you I would mention it ) home. Woodlands really pushed on then in search of the fourth and again pushed their luck a bit so with a few more changes managed to see the game out at 3-1.

As always, great respect to WB, they always provide tough opposition for us and the games are very tight but today we managed to gain the three points but great praise to WB for their efforts.

Thanks to everyone involved in switching the fixture etc, to Alan for reffing very well as always, both Robins for your continued support, Lucy W for coming to watch and hopefully you will be fit again soon.

Many thanks as always to the parents and families who always turn up and give your total support to the girls, without you all we would not be the side we are.

Well done to Hannah, Annie and our vice captain Mia for your player of the match awards.

Annie: I think today you took a few risks but they all paid off for you and the team, as ever your commitment to get to the ball first is what makes you stand out and makes you an exceptional keeper, very good performance as ever for your Player of the Match.

Bex: Another committed performance at the back against a very quick forward but as ever you read the game very well and had it all under control.

Lucy P: Very determined effort from you Lucy today, clearly you were injured but were still up and ready to go back on and do your bit for the team.

Ash: Obviously with last weeks events you have had a busy week, the danger was that your mind may not be on the game but you never put a foot wrong today and showed what a good footballer you are becoming.

Saff: Another player that is becoming very versatile, playing today in a couple of positions, as always you gave it everything for the team and always looked a danger.

Katie W: A quiet first half today but the second half you bossed the midfield and showed your true quality.

Emily: Called into action again at the back and as ever played very well back there while Lucy was off injured. I think we all knew the outcome when the ball dropped to you on the edge of the box and it was quite a strike.

Grace: Miss dependable in the midfield this week, worked really hard and again very rarely gave the ball away which is a great quality to have.

Georgia: I would like to think that your run of scoring in every game continues, in the second half we changed it around and played you down the centre which is where you scored your "toe poke" sorry goal from. They all count mate.

Katie M: It was difficult today to open up the WB defence and you found yourself out wide a lot, in the second half you showed your qualities by supplying crosses which WB found hard to deal with.

Mia: Upfront in the first half, in the second half you were in central midfield where all the action was and you absolutely ran your socks off for the team and was a very worthy winner of Player of the Match.

Anna: Birthday girl today, it would have been fitting for you to nick a goal but it wasn't to be but you worked the defence very hard and forced plenty of mistakes from them which is a thankless job.

Hannah: Two in two, part of being a goal scorer is being in the right place at the right time and when Katie fizzed the cross in you managed to connect enough to see the ball over the line, your work rate was again good and a much deserved goal scorer and Player of the Match
