I think its fair to say that all the parents and coaches were blown away by your performance today.
Having looked forward to the start of the season for so long, it was well worth waiting for. The girls kicked off and right from the first whistle were straight at Priory. With only three minutes on the clock Grace scooped the ball home to start our league campaign off. This was followed on seven minutes by Katie W long range lob over the keeper to keep alive her increadible record of scoring on our opening day for the last five seasons. Emily then drove home number three on eight minutes. After a kick out from the keeper which landed at the feet of Katie M the ball was again poked into the net for our fourth. Saff then registered with a lovely bending shot into the corner of the net to complete the halves scoring.
Having pointed out a few areas which we could improve on it took four minutes into the second half for Emily to curl her shot into the top corner of the net to make it six. Katie W still hadn't finished either with another curling effort over the Priory keeper.
With the final whistle approaching Katie M latched onto Saffs through ball to drive the ball low into the net to complete a very good performance. To Priory's credit though, right throughout the match they never once gave up hope.
Annie : Did everything that you needed to do well and were decisive in when to come out and when to stay.
Bex, Lucy P, Amy - Defence : Increadible, I am able to put all three of your names together as you were all outstanding back there today.
Grace, Saff, Katie W, Mia - Midfield : All your work rate today won us the game. Some stunning goals, tracking back and tackling was there for all to see today. You all more than played your part.
Katie M, Lucy, Emily - Forwards : What a performance from all three of you, with Katie and Emily proving the touches it was left to Lucy to do the hard graft of chasing down the ball which she is so very good at. As a unit you have it all and were superb today.
Ashley, Hannah, Anna - Subs : I had explained to Ash at training on Thursday what we were going to try using her off the bench on the wing and it worked really well today. I have never seen Ash show so much agresion and play such good football as she did today. Hannah, you worked really hard when you came on and your efforts were nearly rewarded with a goal but overall you did really well for the team. Anna, Great to finally have you back training and it was a good game to get you involved in. With a few weeks training behind you your strength and long kicking will be very handy.

Having not played since our semi final victory, Sunday saw the visit of an inform West Bridgford side fresh from a big win over
With a glorious day for football the girls flew out the blocks and with the first meaningful attack forced a corner. From the resultant corner kick the ball broke to Katie W on the edge of the box and she duly dispatched it back over the keeper to open the scoring inside 90 seconds. With Bridgford still gathering their thoughts and striving to get into the game, another corner resulted in the ball this time breaking to Emily on the edge of the box, who drove the ball into the net through a crowded penalty area.
Bridgford then came to life and forced Annie in the Woodlands goal to make several point blank stops before the defense was finally breached when Woodlands failed to clear their lines.
The second half saw a different Bridgford side with their tails up having got themselves back into the match and Woodlands found it tough to win the ball back in midfield. When Woodlands did break chances were few and far between, Katie M, Saff and Amy all going close to stretching the lead. With some fantastic defending throughout, the girls hung on to their slender advantage and gained a valuable three points to leapfrog Bridgford in the league table.
Having analyzed the game I think its fair to say that we started very well and got our noses in front but West Bridgford who are an emerging side in this division were always going to have their fare share of play and to take three points was a great result for us. With some very resolute defending we got the job done but we must work much harder to play the way we want you to play but sometimes you have to win ugly and we did.
