Woodlands FC played New Boulton Athletic for the third time this season, the first visit in the cup ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw and the league match at Moorways was a very close exciting game which Woodlands edged 2-0 .

This was to be no different, tight with both defences being outstanding, the game being won by a beautiful finish from Mel, after being played through by Sophie.

The game could have been won by either side, both teams hitting the Woodwork during the game..

Woodlands started with Chloe T in goal for the injured Charlotte & Tara (from the U16's) being signed on just before the kick off playing down the right hand side of midfield.

The game moved from end to end continuously but chances were few and far between as both teams have excellent defences. The New Boulton keeper making 3 excellent saves from Mel in the first half alone, Chloe T. coming out and bravely making an excellent save at the feet of a New Boulton attacker.

Tara making her debut, settled in very well & became more and more influential as the game went on. Her touch and movement was excellent and she has a very bright future. The U16's can be proud of her performance.

In the second half, Mel hit a 35 yard thunderbolt after 49 minutes that thundered against the post & some how stayed out but the defences continued to rule the game with Woodlands quartet of Chloe P, Michelle, Xenia & club captain Betty being outstanding in the second half.

Woodlands finally broke the deadlock on 69 minutes, when Mel raced on to Sophie's throughball and slid it past the outstanding New Boulton keeper as she raced from her goal.

Katie & Nia are forming a formidable centre of midfield partnership & giving the Woodlands defence & attack support when required.

New Boulton threw players forward in the last few minutes and Woodlands were fortunate to survive, when a shot came back off the bar, Chloe P blocking the follow up shot an Katie clearing the ball away.

Grace's enthusiastic running down the left often gave the Woodlands attack the service required.
