The Semi Final of the League Cup away at Ashbourne was always going to be a difficult game, but with injuries to Charlotte & Xenia & illness at the 11th hour to Sophie D & Abi working & no available Uni' girls  Woodlands Ladies were stretched to the limit. Centre Forward Mel played even though ill & Hannah came in for her debut in the most important game of the season so far.

However we need not have worried because the defence of Chloe T in goal, Nia & Betty as full backs & Michelle & Chloe P in the middle were as they've been since xmas,  magnificent. 16 year old Tara & Katie were immense in midfield. Grace & Sophie B worked their socks off & sick Mel & new girl Hannah gave there all for the cause.

It was a pleasure & agony to watch as Woodlands took the lead on 75 minutes through a sublime curling shot from Katie only to be pegged back by an inch perfect drive by the Ashbourne forward with just 9 minutes to play.

As extra time beckoned Mel broke through and her shot came back off the post and we readied ourselves for the extra half an hour. But with just 3 minutes to go, Sophie B, was felled fully 30 yards from goal and Chloe P struck an unstoppable shot into the roof of the Ashbourne net to send Woodlands into the final of the Ladies League Cup on May the 8th.

It was simply brilliant & i'm so proud of each and every one of the players that have got us there.
