Our first ever evening fixture saw the Black Socks requiring a win to be crowned Champions of U10 Division 1 .

The girls played superbly in their last outing away at Arnold and we asked for the same again plus a bit more !!!!!
A superb crowd featuring  a fantastic gathering of Woodlands FC hierarchy and players saw the girls play out a very tight first half in which we had several good chances but the ball would not go in through bad luck and good goalkeeping . We were also indepted to Molly in our goals who pulled off two fantastic saves to gives the rest of the girls confidence in that Derby were not going to score .
The half time briefing was basically keep doing the same but work that bit harder up front in closing the Derby defenders down to try and force the error .
Rian duly played a blinder in the second half and was instrumental in our second half performance .
April opened the scoring after some lovely passing play and Rosie added a second 5 minutes from time to seal a monumental victory .

The Players ;

Molly - another clean sheet and 2 very good first half saves kept us in the game and we pushed on from there Clap
Lottie - very good first half in which you tackled well and played some lovely balls up the flanks . You struggled in the second half having suffered with your chest this week but you gave it your all and you did well Clap
Esther - what else can I say about you I haven't already said ? Brilliant as always Clap
Eloise - very strong at the back pushing forward well when required . 2 shots with your right foot as well  !!!! I  think there is one Derby player wondering what hit her as well in the second half  !! Clap
April - another non stop energy filled performance , another goal and some very good tackling in midfield Clap
Rosie - another very well taken goal but above all another selfless team display in which you battled for everything and never gave the Derby defence a minute on the ball . Some terrific crosses as well which we need to start connecting with !! Clap
Rian - several shots on goal and some good hold up play as well , bringing other players into the game very well. Your second half performance was the catalyst for our excellent second half display Clap
Orla - solid as a rock when you replaced Lottie , you carried on from your excellent display against Gedling  Clap
Leanne - I couldn't get you on tonight but your time will come and you are a superb squad player , keep working and listening in training and you will keep improving  Clap
Erin - nursing your poorly foot I didn't want to take a chance with you tonight , rest up and get ready for the Cup Final Clap

So thats it we are U10 Division 1 League Champions for the second year in a row , I can't believe it , but you all deserve it . You have all worked incredibly hard for us this season and played some cracking stuff .
We have taken our football to another level this season and we must keep it going if we are to keep doing well next season .

Thanks to the following tonight who helped us along the way ;

Paul - excellent coaching and support as always , the girls enjoy your sessions and the results speak for themselves Clap
Frances - superb photos as always recording the historic occassion Clap
Jon - thanks for helping me set up the pitch Clap
James - another very good refereeing performance Clap
