Finally the summer break was over and the footie began. Having played lots of games in pre season, the reality of league football started and what a great spectacle of a match to start. The game was played in a fantastic spirit right from the first whistle, with both teams playing some lovely flowing football. The opening exchanges were shared at both ends but with neither side able to break the deadlock. Both goalkeepers were called into action and both were equal to the shots hit at their goals. The second half was a bit more open and saw early chances for both sides, having made a low clearance out of the penalty area, Annie in the Woodlands goal, pulled off a superb fingertip save, which stopped the Priory skipper from opening the scoring. Woodlands then mounted a sustained period of pressure having gone to three at the back which lead to several corners in quick sucsession. Having failed to score from any of the corners, the ball broke out wide on the right, which was played to the edge of the box, where it was met by Katie W, who dispatched an unstoppable lob into the corner of the net. Priory though were always a threat and Woodlands had to work very hard right up to the final whistle for their victory.

Thankyou to Alan, for a very good reffereeing performance, this being his first league match since qualifying and to Martin who ran the line and was as always impartial and does a great job for us.
