The first game of the second phase of matches gave us a tough match away at FC Interski. We probably played as well as at any time this season in the first game v Interski in November when we came out on top 3-1. In a hard fought first half chances were at a minimum. Chloe T playing in goal because Sophie was still not back from her South Africa experience & Gemma broke 2 fingers in our friendly win at Bingham last week. Chloe produced a good early save managing to get her hand up to push the ball wide, when it looked to be heading for the roof of the net. Mel as usual was making a nuisance of her self up front & Nicci looked sharp in support. But it was Interski who scored first on 32 minutes a sweet strike from outside the box gave Chloe no chance and that's how it stayed until half time.
Substitute Jess made a big impression on the second half playing some beautiful passes through the Interski defence, but it took a piece of individual magic from Shannon, lobbing the keeper from fully 30 yards on 62 minutes to get Woodlands level. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of a very strong FC Interski side and Mel fired Woodlands in front with her shot beating the excellent FC Interski keeper at the near post, despite her best efforts to keep it out. Mel scored her second & Woodlands 3rd on 82 minutes, Claire worked hard to create the chance & Mel fired hard and low to give Woodlands the 3 points. Another terrific game of Football with Woodlands gradually get to grips with a very dangerous Interski team.
