Woodlands first visit to the Lido ground, Clipstone was a very lively affair. Gemma & Mel both came in to play there first games for Woodlands and both made an impact. After a lively start Gemma produced an excellent save diving low to her left, palming the shot around the post for a corner. At the other end, Nicci saw a good run and shot saved by the Clipstone keeper & Mel was causing havoc in the Clipstone defence. However it was Clipstone who took the lead after hesitancy in the Woodlands defence, the ball was scooped just under the bar by a Clipstone striker.
Woodlands took the game to Clipstone and were unlucky when Hayley's right wing cross come shot just evaded the Woodlands strike force at the back post. Clipstone's keeper made 2 excellent saves from Mel in the first half.
Woodlands continued to press in the second half and Nicci nearly scored after 49 minutes her angled drive rolled right across the line but somehow didn't go in, but Woodlands were rewarded for their persistance when Mel fired home from a tight angle.
Just when it seemed like Woodlands would go on and win, Clipstone retook the lead, perseverance from the Clipstone striker gave her a chance and she took it well.
Woodlands drew level on 79 minutes when Mel ran onto a Jess throughball and fired into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
Woodlands continued to press and with only 2 minutes left on the clock, Chloe P fired in a free kick that the keeper could only parry and Mel was on hand to complete her hat trick & give Woodlands the points.
