This was our first visit to Bingham of the season, we will be there again on the 6th December in the cup. The cup match will have a lot to live up to.

Played in near gale force winds Woodlands lost the toss and played into the wind in the first half. Sophie  had to be alert in goal on more than one occation early on as Bingham played the ball through for their forwards to run onto. However Woodlands were pushing forward and both Amy  & Hayley were getting some joy down both flanks.

Claire went close with an effort that just crept the wrong side of the near post after 20 minutes & Woodlands deservedly took the lead after 25 minutes, Amy  won the ball in midfield and played it out wide to Hayley , her throughball to Nicci  was perfect & Nicci's finish was emphatic, leaving the keeper with no chance.

Unfortunately for Woodlands, if they thought that Bingham were about to lie down they were to be mistaken, within two minutes of falling behind Chloe equalised for the home side and in the 35th minute the same player put Bingham in front after a terrible mix up in the Woodlands defence.

Woodlands pushed forward looking for the equaliser before half time but Shannon header went just over the crossbar from Hayley free kick & Nicci  header shaved the post from another great cross from Hayley.

Within 2 minutes of the second half starting, Woodlands were dealt a severe blow, when Hayley pulled up and was immediately substituted with what looked like a hamstring strain.

Woodlands playing with the wind behind them spent most of the second half camped in the Bingham half but Bingham defended doggedly and when the defence was breached the Bingham keeper was always there to clean up behind them.

Woodlands finally equalised in the 74th minute, a long throughball by Hollie eventually found Shannon, who's angled drive found the far corner of the net.

Claire fired a beautiful shot against the near post, but just as it looked like Bingham would hold on for the draw, Frankie who had been pushed forward from the back, met a Chloe T cross from the left with a sublime header that left the excellent Bingham keeper with no chance.

Woodlands showed a lot of character to get the 3 points and Bingham can take away a lot of credit for the way they battled. Player of the match: Frankie Watson - outstanding throughout, scored the goal her play deserved.
