Our second visit to Bingham in little over a month, this time in the 2nd round of the League Cup. Our first visit was a tight affair with Frankie Watson scoring the winning goal in the last minute of a 3-2 thriller.
This time Woodlands were down to the bare bones with goalkeeper Sophie Dyson joining Amy Gabbitas on the injured list - Chloe Taylor took her place in goal. Nicole Dainty was unavailable & Claire Waring, Hayley Merritt & Katie Paling were all less than 100%. However a strong first half display capped by a Jess Atkinson 30 yard special gave Woodlands a deserved lead. When Shannon Ryan scored Woodlands second with just 9 minutes to go the game looked all over. However Bingham hit straight back and despite one or two nervy moments Woodlands held on to progress to the 1/4 final stage of the competition. Player of the match: Chloe Pountain - Outstanding in the centre of defence, her best game so far, for the club.
