Our second visit of the season to Arnold Town, this time our first game ever against the Arnold Maroon's. The game was played with a heavy cross wind and rain cutting across the pitch. The pitch itself  however was perfect.

Arnold kicked off and Woodlands were a bit sloppy early on, giving the ball away when in promising positions. The first 30 minutes of the game were disappointing with only an Amy shot from outside the box & a that was well saved and a Jess effort that went just wide to show for a lot of possession. However that was all to change in 7 frantic minutes.

Woodlands were pressing down the right on 31 minutes, as the ball was cleared, Fran met it with a beautiful strike that flew just inside the far post from fully 30 yards.

Woodlands doubled their lead on 33 minutes after some beautiful build up play down the left, Nia & Shannon opened up the defence with a neat one two and Nia beat the goalie to the through ball to finish neatly. After 37 minutes it was 3-0. Nicci & Shannon working well together on the edge of the box, the latter smashing the ball home from 12 yards out.

On the stroke of half time, Woodlands were given a penalty, Claire ran through and as she collided with the Arnold keeper the referee pointed straight to the spot. Shannon tucking the ball away to the keepers left to give Woodlands a 4 goal lead at half time.

The second half was only 2 minutes old when Hollie ( a second half sub) beat the keeper to a through ball and fired into an empty net. Woodlands went 6-0 up after 56 minutes, Nia ran down the right, her cross was controlled by Claire who turned her defender before firing in her first goal since the 2nd match of the season.

Claire almost added her second on 70 minutes her beatiful shot hitting both posts before coming out.

Hollie was having a superb match on the left and her efforts were rewarded with a 2nd goal and Woodlands 7th after 75 minutes. A strong run saw her outpace her defender and beat the keeper with a lovely finish.

The defence were again outstanding throughout, Betty Hull looked back to her very best and Katie did well as a scond half substitute in the middle of midfield.

Well done girls.
